Halogen lighting has become very popular over the last few years with many applications using this type of lamp. Generally tubes are used in Floodlamp applications, normally outdoors, whilst Spotlamps are generally used in decorative and general lighting applications indoors. For most indoor applications two types of Spotlamp are used. 12v DC lamps utilise a transformer, powered from the mains, and this reduces the voltage and converts it from 230v AC to 12v DC. These lamps are ideal for installation in locations such as bathrooms, although they appear in other domestic and commercial applications. 230 volt Halogen tubes and spotlamps are connected directly to the mains (via a conventional light switch) and are quickly becoming the first choice for new installations.
