Jaw slides are made from copper impregnated material which aids hardness and wear resistance. Copper has outstanding qualities as an anti-seize and low friction agent. Prior to the invention of the ball bearing, copper was the primary metal in bearing materials. In the Supernova2 copper is fused into the material to achieve the best mechanical properties.
The SuperNova2 Chuck comes with a woodworm screw as standard, featuring a square shank for positive locking into the chuck body, a groove for locking into the jaws, and a deep fine blade for easy lead into the wood.
Also included is a versatile 50mm jaw set designed especially to cut into the wood and grip firmly in contraction mode to provide high tear out strength. Some chucks use an engineering profile (designed to hold hard material like steel) or rounded profiles, which just crush the wood fibres without digging in and holding securely.
